Haiti and Dominican Republic
Haiti and Dominican Republic of the Hispaniola Islands in the Greater Antilles Archipelago in the West Indies-Caribbean region are the only two countries that share the location of the Hispaniolan Pine Forests. This subtropical coniferous ecoregion hosts Hispaniolan Pine which is endemic to the island of Hispaniola. In the Dominican Republic, it is called "Pino Criollo". It is an endangered species according to IUCN. This forest extends from the Cordillera Central of the Dominican Republic to Massif du Nord of Haiti. Agriculture, pastures, exotic tree plantations are the major threats of these forests.
