Notes: Ajatashatru was monarch of a huge kingdom which covered modern India’s Bihar, Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, one-fourth of north Madhya Pradesh, the tip of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. He firmly established the predominance of Magadha. He wanted to strenghten the defence  of Magadha so he built a fort on the banks of River Ganga  with the help of his ministers Sunidha and Vassakara. This fort was called "Patali Grama".
