Handicrafts of India were ruined
The industrial revolution came late to India, due to its complicated political, social and economic relationship with Great Britain. As a result, it took decades before India started adopting modern industrial practices, such as steam power and mechanized spinning and weaving, in its textile manufacturing.
Industrial revolution in England affected India's economy after the East India Company established political power. It asserted a monopoly right to trade. Indian handicrafts were ruined. Although there are several positives to the Industrial Revolution there were also many negative elements, including: poor working conditions, poor living conditions, low wages, child labor, and pollution.
