Notes: The rank of Bihar in the production of mango in the country is 4th. Mango accounts for 50 percent of the fruit production in Bihar. It is spread over one lakh hectares and has an annual production of 1.5 million metric tonnes. In the production of mango, Bihar ranks fourth in the whole country and the share of Bihar in the total production of the country is 11 percent. There are many varieties of mangoes in Bihar. Among these, the more popular mangoes are Maldah, Bombay, Jardalu, Jarda, Safeda, Sepia, Shukul and Gulabkhas. The important mango-producing districts are Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, East and West Champaran, and Bhagalpur.
