Notes: The government of India, in 1982, declared a core area of 110 km2 in the Gulf of Kutch as Marine National Park for the conservation of coral reefs. It is situated on the southern shore of the Gulf of Kachchh in the Jamnagar District of Gujarat. There are 42 islands on the Jamnagar coast in the Marine National Park, most of them surrounded by reefs. The coral formations of the Gulf of Kutch represent one of the extreme northern limits of corals in the Indian Ocean.
