National Green Tribunal Act (NGT) was established in 2010, under India’s constitutional provision of Article 21, which assures the citizens of India, the right to a healthy environment under Article 2 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, which affirms the right to life. The tribunal itself, is a special fast-track court to handle the expeditious disposal of the cases pertaining to environmental issues. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) was officially passed by the legislature on 18th October 2010 with its Chairperson, Justice Lokeshwar Singh Panta.
