Notes: An elephant from the historic Mysuru Dasara celebrations died of electrocution near Karnataka’s Nagarahole Tiger Reserve. Covering 847.981 sq km in Mysore and Kodagu districts, the reserve is named after the 'Nagarahole' river. It borders Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Bandipur Tiger Reserve, forming part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1955, it became a national park in 1988 and a Tiger Reserve in 1999.
