Notes: The hill ranges of Western Ghats are home to some of the highest mountain peaks of India. Anamudi or the Elephant Head is the highest peak of the Western Ghats with an elevation of 2,695 m (8,842 ft) located in the Indian state Kerala. The Anamudi mountain peak is also the highest point in India outside the great Himalaya-Karakoram mountain ranges. Other highest peaks of the Western Ghats are Meesapulimala, Doddabetta in Nilgiris hills, Kalsubai in Maharashtra and Mullayanagiri in Karnataka.
The Madugula Konda Range is located in the northern portion of the Eastern Ghats. The Madugula Konda range is higher than the Maliyas and generally ranges between elevations of 1100–1400 m. Prominent summits of Eastern Ghats include the highest peak of the Eastern Ghats – Arma Konda (1680 m), Gali Konda (1643 m) and Sinkram Gutta (1620 m).
