Sir, Could you please how the over dependence on jute sacks will make the jute industry as stagnant, inefficient and unproductive ? page: 28 last para

Hello Himanshu, Lack of diversification. Jute is mostly used in Jute sacs and some part to make ropes etc. This industry needed to diversify that did not happen.

Sir you have mentioned in sub para ‘rise of public sector’
Public Sector Enterprises also produce a variety of goods and services ranging from sophisticated electronic goods to products of mass consumption like bread, cloth and drugs.

Which PSE produce bread in India today?
And, are PSEs in the area of drugs still flourishing in India, like IDPL has been closed many years ago in the hegemony of private players?

    Sir,
I am a beginner. Kindly explain the following:
What are Greenfield projects and brownfield projects? (page 19)
what is automatic route and Government route? (page 19)
What is forward linkage and backward linkage ? (page 19)

    Thank You

      Hello Ajeni,
The Greenfield project means that a work which is not following a prior work. In infrastructure the projects on the unused lands where there is no need to remodel or demolish an existing structure are called Green Field Projects. The projects which are modified or upgraded are called brownfield projects. For example → You build a new plant or factory on a land, it is greenfield project. You purchase an old factory and renew it for capacity extension or whatever other outcomes, it is brownfield project.
Automatic Route means that you don’t require the approval of Government authorities. For specific sectors, the investors have to take explicit permission of the government authorities (for example Foreign Investment Promotion Board in case of FDI, DIPP in case of indstries or SEBI / RBI in case of External commercial borrowings etc.). This is called Government route.
Forward and backward linkages refer to the links at a particular reference point in supply chain. For an individual or organization X, the backward linkages are suppliers to X while forward linkages are customers of X. I have given example of an Steel mill in my documents. All raw material suppliers to that particular steel mill are its backward linkages. All its customers are its forward linkages.
