Varnika: BRBNMPL Ink Manufacturing Unit

Reserve Bank of India’s wholly-owned subsidiary Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL) has set up an Ink Manufacturing Unit named “Varnika” at Mysuru, Karnataka. This new unit was dedicated to the nation by RBI governor Shaktikanta Das.

About BRBNMPL

This organization mints all the Indian banknotes and was established in 1995 with the aim of addressing the increased demand for coins and banknotes. It operates by printing, designing, and supplying banknotes. Most of the country’s banknote requirements are supplied by BRBNMPL while the remaining requirements are met through Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL) which is a wholly-owned government agency of the Government of India. BRBNMPL’s headquarter is located in Bengaluru.

Presses of BRBNMPL

There are two presses of BRBNMPL in Salboni, West Bengal and Mysuru, Karnataka. 16 billion note pieces are being produced in both of these presses per year.
