The recent elections have proven that in terms of women politicians making it through the elections there is only a little break from the past. Politics in India is not open to women and presents an inequitable ground for women who are contesting. This was proven by the misogynist remarks against many women leaders. It is also the lack of experience, wealth and co-gender voting which has brought down the electoral incentive for the nomination of women thus keeping their numbers dismal.
