Suiso Frontier- World’s First Liquefied Hydrogen Carrier Ship

Tokyo based Japanese public multinational corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries Limited has announced the World’s First Liquefied Hydrogen Carrier Ship- Suiso Frontier on last Wednesday. As a key next-generation energy source, Hydrogen is gaining popularity as countries around the world are continuously making efforts to combat global warming, the Suiso Frontier was developed to provide a means of transporting liquefied hydrogen safely and over long distances by sea. The construction of the carrier is expected to be completed by late 2020, and once completed will be used as technology demonstration by shipping liquified hydrogen produced in Australia to Japan in initial phases, Furthur establishing an international hydrogen energy supply chain in the future.
The carrier or ship will have a storage capacity of almost 1,250 cubic meters, its vacuum installed double-shell tank will be able to hold hydrogen chilled to-253 degree Celcius.
