August 19: World Photography Day

World Photography Day 2022 is being observed on August 19, under the theme of “Pandemic Lockdown through the lens.” This day is observed annually and it focuses on art, craft and science of photography. The day celebrates how a picture catches the essence, emotion and mood of moment in time.

History of the Day:

Photography has become a significant part of life, since early 19th century. The World Photography Day marks its origin to 19th century when two Frenchmen Joseph Nicephore Niepce and Louis Daguerre ‘Daguerreotype’. It was a process associated with photography. French Academy of Sciences officially endorsed the daguerreotype in 1839. Before that, Joseph Nicephore Niepce had captured the first permanent photo of an object in 1926
