National Tourism Day observed on 25th January

The`National Tourism Day’ is being celebrated every year on 25th January in India to raise awareness of the global community and about the importance of tourism for the country’s economy and its social, political, financial, and cultural growth.

According to a FICCI- YES Bank report of 2019, the tourism industry generated 247.3 billion dollars in 2018 contributing to 9.2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product of India and according to World Travel & Tourism Council, tourism supported 39.5 million jobs or 7.7 percent of its total employment.

Annually on 27th September, The United Nation’s World Tourism Day is celebrated and every year India takes part in the celebration and even hosted the global event of World Tourism Day in 2019.

India has moved up six places to 34th rank on the World travel and tourism competitiveness index of the World Economic Forum report since India has a rich culture of varied traditions, customs, and festivals which attracts the tourists.
