UPSC launches helpline for job aspirants

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has launched a toll-free helpline number for job aspirants, recently.

Highlights

  • This facility can be used by the government job aspirants belonging to economically weaker sections and backward classes.
  • Helpline number will be operational on all the working days in office hours.
  • This initiative is a part of UPSC’s efforts of undertaking queries of such candidates in a friendly manner. It is also a part of celebrations under the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, commemorating the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.

Objective of UPSC Helpline

The toll-free number was launched with the objective of helping candidates in filling up application forms or resolving their queries related to the examinations or recruitments of UPSC. The toll-free number is “1800118711” and it seeks to assist candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) besides the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the premier central recruiting agency of India, for central government public servants. The body is responsible for appointments and examinations for Group A and Group B posts under civil services cadre as well as defence services cadre of the central government.

UPSC Charter

The charter of UPSC is granted by Part XIV of the Indian Constitution. It is mandated by the Constitution to make appointments to the Union services and All India Services. It requires government’s opinion in matters related to the appointment, promotion, transfer and disciplinary matters. It directly reports to the President.
