The Lost Galaxy

The Lost Galaxy or NGC 4535 is located in the Virgo constellation around 50 million light years away from the Earth. Like the Milk Way, it is a barred spiral galaxy. It is among the 38 spiral galaxies being studied by NASA as part of the Physics at High Angular resolution in Nearby GalaxieS (PHANGS) survey, which seeks to find links between cold gas clouds, star formation and the overall shape and other properties of galaxies.
