Mairaj Ahmad Khan Crowned National Skeet Champion

Representing Uttar Pradesh, Mairaj Ahmad Khan clinched the gold medal at the 60th National Shooting Championship for Shotgun held at Jaipur.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan is a shooter in the shotgun skeet discipline and India’s first- ever World Cup medallist in skeet. He became the first Indian to qualify for Olympics in this particular discipline. He also holds the distinction of being the first and only Indian to clinch both the World Cup title and the Olympic quota for India at the same time. Presently, he is ranked 10th in the world and 6th in Asia. He has won medals during the Commonwealth Shooting Championship, Asian Championship, South Asian Federation, National Championships and International Championships.

Skeet shooting is a competitive activity in which participants’ shoots down the high speed mechanically flung clay targets by using shotguns. A shotgun is a firearm which is fired from the shoulder.
