National Updates:
Bihar: Nitish Kumar on National Commission to identify BPL families
Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar demands the creation of National Commission for Identification of Below Poverty Line(BPL) families in states which would continuously keep updated records for welfare schemes aimed at providing succour to them. He speaks of the discrepancies in identification of poor people citing example of Bihar where centre had estimated only 65 lakh BPL families while the actual figure was more than 1.40 crore.

Haryana: First Grameen Nyayalaya
First Grameen Nayalaya (Rural Court) of Haryana has been inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge, Justice D K Jain at tehsil complex in Shahabad.

Gujarat: Mobile Directory
Gujarat University & ‘Smile India Knowledge services’ launch a mobile directory loaded with features like a search facility to find names of various colleges offering a particular course in various cities, finding out which city offers courses etc, listing of all the cities, colleges, their names, addresses, phone numbers and colleges and departments, affiliated to Gujarat University and contact details of colleges. It will give auto update on important information like admission status and quota.

On Justice Soumitra Sen Impeachment Issue:
Justice Sen of Calcutta High court is facing allegations of financial irregularities when he was a receiver in a dispute between SAIL and Indian Shipping Corporation before becoming High Court Judge in 2003. His impeachment was recommended by Chief Justice Justice K G Balakrishnan in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in August 2008 following refusal of the Justice to take voluntary retirement. Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari had appointed a three-member panel headed by Supreme Court Judge B Sudarshan Reddy with Punjab and Haryana Chief Justice Justice Mukul Mudgal and noted lawyer Fali S Nariman to probe into the allegation. The panel has issued a charge sheet against Calcutta High Court Judge Justice Soumitra Sen.

Independence Day in Zimbabwe:
Zimbabwe marks 30 years of independence from British-backed minority white rule. Independence from the United Kingdom was established 1901 & proclaimed on 11 November 1965. However it was recognized 18 April 1980. President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe promises to continue his land seizure policy and transfer of control of foreign firms to locals as part of a black empowerment drive. Mugabe also asks that politically and racially driven violence in the country cease to be, the first time he has ever done this.
