Constable (General Duty) Examination for CAPFs

The Union Home Ministry has approved the conduct of the Constable (General Duty) examination for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English. This landmark decision seeks to boost the participation of local youth in the CAPF and encourage the use of regional languages.

13 regional languages added to the examination

Besides Hindi and English, now the question paper of the Constable (General Duty) examination for CAPF will be set in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Urdu, Punjabi, Manipuri, and Konkani. The examination in these 13 regional languages will be conducted from January 1, 2024, onwards.

Importance of the Constable (General Duty) examination

The Constable (General Duty) examination is one of the flagship examinations conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. It attracts lakhs of candidates from across India. The inclusion of 13 regional languages will help local youth participate in the CAPF and make a career serving the country.

Encouraging local youth to take the examination in their mother tongue

The States and UT governments have been urged to launch a widespread campaign promoting this opportunity for local youths, enabling them to use this opportunity to be a part of CAPFs. This will help increase the number of candidates for these examinations and strengthen India’s internal security.
