Arjuna Awards – 2011

Normally not more than 15 Arjuna awards are given in a calendar year. But the scheme of Arjuna Awards also provides that keeping in view the performance of Indian sportspersons in the Commonwealth, Asian Games and Olympic Games during a particular year, the awards exceeding 15 in number may be allowed with proper justification and approval of the Sports Ministry. The 19 sportspersons who have been chosen for the Arjuna Awards 2011 are:

  9. Hockey – Rajpal Singh
  10. Volley ball – Sanjay Kumar
  11. Football – Sunil Chhetri
  12. Weight lifting – Ravi Kumar
  13. Wrestling – Ravindra Singh
  14. Boxing – Suronjoy Singh
  15. Batminton- Jwala Gutta
  16. Swimming – Virdhaval Khade
  17. Swimming – (paralympics) – Prasanta Karmakar
  18. Shooting – Tejaswini Sawant
  19. Wushu – Sandhya Rani Devi
  20. Tennis – Somdev Devvarman
