How the childhood industrial roots helped L. S. Lowry to become a modern day celebrity artist?

L. S. Lowry (1887-1976) was one of the most celebrated painters of 20th century England. He is best known for his often mysterious paintings of urban landscapes and often quiet people found in these paintings.

L S Lowry was born in Stretford, Manchester, in 1887. His father Robert was an estate agent and his mother Elizabeth was a concert pianist. Thus, his childhood was affluent. In 1909, his family moved to an industrial suburbs of Pendlebury, may be for economic reasons. Lowry did not like it in the beginning but then got obsessed with the crowded streets and cotton mills there, a sign that was seen in almost all cities of England affected by Industrial revolution. The impact of this city and its surrounding was visible in his paintings.

In 1910, Lowry had joined a property company as Rent collector and despite the fact that he later became a famous painter; he worked with that company (secretly) till his retirement.
