World’s first new Alzheimer’s Drug in 20 years approved in China

The Chinese Government approved the world’s first new drug in nearly two decades for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease named Oligomannate. The drug Oligomannate was given approval on 2nd November 2019 by China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) was developed at Shanghai-based Green Valley Pharmaceuticals. The drug Oligomannate would be released in China by the end of 2019.

What is Alzheimer’s disease?
It starts with memory loss as brain cells degenerate and with time impacts cognitive ability. Confusion and memory loss are the main symptoms. The decline of brain functioning during Alzheimer’s can be divided into seven stages, and the new drug has been proven effective on conditions up to stage 4.Till date no cure existed.
