Veteran Tamil writer-producer Panchu Arunachalam passes away

Veteran film producer, screenplay and script writer Panchu Arunachalam passed away in Chennai, Tamil Nadu following brief illness. He was 75.
He had mostly worked in Tamil cinema and had introduced Ilayaraja (renowned film composer) as music director in his film Annakili. He had made most of films starring Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth.

About Panchu Arunachalam

  • Born on 18 June 1941 in Sirukoodalpatti in Tamil Nadu. He was mentored by poet Kannadasan who was his uncle.
  • As a writer, he has worked in 100 films and also has written song lyrics for more than 200 films. He had produced films under his production banner named P. A. Arts.[
  • Some of his famous movies are Sakalakala Vallavan, Murattu Kaalai and Apoorva Sagodhargal.
  • He had worked with Rajinikanth in 23 films, including Pokkiri Raja, Kazhugu and Paayum Puli among others.
