Australia agrees to provide uranium to India
Australia has agreed to supply uranium to India. It is making internal arrangements to ensure the supply. It is known that earlier Australia had denied supply of uranium to India as it was not a signatory to Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) although India signed treaties with more than 8 countries including the US for nuclear trade.

Nuclear Safety and Regulatory Authority Bill Approved by Cabinet
The Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of a new independent nuclear safety regulatory authority which will report to the Parliament and will be headed by a professional with extensive experience in atomic energy. The Nuclear Safety and Regulatory Authority Bill has been cleared by Cabinet in this context. Details are awaited.
