11th edition of Bal Sangam festival begins

The Eleventh edition of Bal Sangam festival is being organised by National School of Drama (NSD) in its premises in New Delhi. The four-day festival will be held from 9 to 12 November 2019.

About Bal Sangam festival

It is a confluence of folk and traditional art forms performed by children. It will showcase enthralling folk and traditional performing arts and folk theatre dedicated to children.

As many as 12 States including Odisha, Assam, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Punjab are participating in festival. At the event 12 folk presentations and 3 folk theatres programme will be displayed.

The festival includes martial arts, folk dance, street play performances and acts such as magic shows, juggling and puppetry. Besides this there will also be many types of art and craft workshops.

About National School of Drama (NSD)

Besides being one of the world’s foremost theatre training institutions, it is only one of its kind in India. In 1959, NSD was set up by Sangeet Natak Akademi as one of its constituent units. Later in 1975, NSD was registered as an autonomous organization under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and thus became an independent entity. It is fully financed by Union Ministry of Culture.
