Neutrino oscillations

Neutrino oscillation is a phenomenon in which neutrinos change from one ‘flavour’ to another during the supernova process. There are 3 flavours or types of neutrinos- electron-neutrino, muon-neutrino and tau-neutrino. When neutrino oscillations occur over different energies simultaneously, it is called collective neutrino oscillation. The model for this process is called the effective two favour model. Recently, Indian scientists argued for the need of a three flavour model for better predictions.
