National Postal Week

From 9th to 16th October every year, the National Postal Week is celebrated by India Post. This is celebrated with the aim to raise awareness about the contribution and role of the postal sector to economic and social development and to the lives of companies and people. On this week several programs are conducted.

The week is held to commemorate the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in the year 1874 in Berne, the Swiss capital. This day (9th October) is celebrated as the World Post Day.

The Postal Department welcomes the implementation of the National Postal Week through various programs or activities aimed at creating greater awareness of its activities and role among the public and the media at the national level.

As part of National Postal Week, Postal Life Insurance Day, Banking Day, Business Development Day, Philately Day and Post Office Day are celebrated to focus on the various services it offers.
