Successful launch of Two BrahMos Missiles from Land and Air Platforms

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Air Force (IAF) and the BrahMos Aerospace Limited have successfully conducted the tests for two BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, one each from air and land platforms.
The first missile launch test was conducted from a land-based mobile launcher, while the second one was carried out by the Indian Air Force from SU-30MKI platform against a sea-based target. Earlier in May this year, the Indian Air Force had successfully tested the missile against a land target.
The BrahMos Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) will bolster the air combat capabilities of the Indian Air Force from stand-off ranges.
BrahMos is the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world, it is developed by BrahMos Aerospace Limited, a joint venture between the DRDO and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinostroyenia(NPOM) of Russia. BrahMos is named after two rivers, the Brahmaputra of India and the Moskva river of Russia.
