DRDO has developed new Mobile Metallic Ramp

To allow for the rapid movement of armored vehicles and tanks through undesirable terrain, the premier defense manufacturing organization in India, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has handed over the design of the Mobile Metallic Ramp(MMR) to the Indian Army.

What is the Mobile Metallic Ramp?

  • The Mobile Metallic Ramp has been designed and developed by the premier research laboratory of the DRDO, the Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES).
  • The Ramp can support a load of 70 metric ton(MT) and has designed and developed on the needs defined by the Indian Army to move its tanks and heavy armored weapons.
  • The MMR is designed to be portable and has a modular design which enables it to be easily assembled or disassembled in the field.
  • The MMR will provide greater strategic mobility for the Armoured and Mechanized units and formations of the Army.
