Global Tamil Angels platform

The Global Tamil Angels platform was launched on Monday at the “Global Startup Investors Summit,” co-organized by the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission and FeTNA International Tamil Entrepreneur Network. The platform, hosted by StartupTN, allows Tamil Nadu-based start-ups to connect with potential investors from the global Tamil diaspora.

How the Global Tamil Angels Platform Works?

Start-ups can get started by creating a profile on the Global Tamil Angels platform. They will need to submit basic information about their company and upload their pitch deck, revenue model, traction, and fundraising goals. After verification by StartupTN, their profiles will be published on the portal and made visible to investors. Founders can then explore a personalized list of investors based on the sectors in which they are interested in investing and send invitations to start investment discussions.

American Tamil Fund Announced

At the Global Startup Investors Summit, an American Tamil Fund (ATF) was also announced. The ATF, which is made up of investors from the Tamil diaspora in the US, has pledged to invest INR 16 crore (approximately $2.2 million) in Tamil Nadu start-ups before December 2023.

Encouraging Investment in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin spoke at the event, highlighting the success of the state’s industries in attracting investment. He noted that investments in industries operating in Tamil Nadu reached an all-time high of $1.5 billion last year, a 70% increase compared to 2021. Stalin encouraged the global Tamil investor community to get involved in the various initiatives being taken by the state government.
