Agreement for the supply of Uranium from Kazakhstan

The Union Minister of State(Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region and Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievance and Pensions, and Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitedra Singh in a written reply to a question at Rajya Sabha on Thursday, 12th December 2019 informed that a contract was signed with M/s JSC NAC Kazatomprom, Kazakhstan on 8th July 2015 for procurement of 500 metric tonnes (MT) of Uranium Ore Concentration (UOC) between a period of 5 years from 2015 to 2019 at an total cost of approx Rs 3156 crore, with an option for procurement of an additional quantity of 500 MT of UOC on a mutually acceptable terms, every year for a duration of four years starting from 2016 to 2019.
As per the contract with M/s JSC NAC Kazaatomprom, 1500 MT of UOC as the balance quantity is scheduled to reach India during this month.
