‘Manodarpan’ Initiative for Mental Health Awareness to be launched

The Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Secretaries of the Department of Higher Education and the School Education and Literacy will launch the mental health awareness initiative, Manodarpan, as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan of the Prime Minister.

This initiative has the objective of providing psycho-social support to the students for their mental health and well-being. According to the HRD Minister, it was felt necessary to focus on mental health also along with the academic front of the students. This initiative will cover a wide range of activities to provide psychological support to the students during the COVID 19 pandemic and also beyond this.

This is expected to strengthen the human capital base of the country and also increase overall productivity by the working-age population in India.

Atmanirbhar Bharat

This was announced by the Government of India along with the stimulus of Rs 20 lakh crore in order to bring about systematic reforms in the economy. The objective of the program is the introduction of interim measures such as liquidity infusion, direct cash transfer, etc. along with long term reforms necessary for growth-critical sectors of the economy in order to make it globally competitive and attractive. It is intended to cover primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of the economy in a wholesome manner.
