Lavender

Lavender is an aromatic herb with medicinal properties. It is a commercially important crop cultivated mainly for production of essential oils. Each litre of lavender essential oil is sold for 10,000 INR. The lavender water, a product that is separated from the oil, is used for manufacturing incense stocks. The hydrosol, which is produced by distilling the flowers, is used for making soaps and room fresheners. Lavender is being cultivated in Jammu as part of the Aroma Mission that was launched in 2016.
