Lohmann, Morris, Muralidaran and Rolton to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has selected Muttiah Muralidaran, Karen Rolton, Arthur Morris and George Lohmann to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
These four iconic cricketers were voted by the ICC Cricket Hall of Famers as well as members of the media. They will be presented with commemorative caps to honour their contribution to the game of cricket in order to mark their induction.
With this, Muralitharan becomes the first Sri Lankan cricket player to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
Muttiah Muralidaran

He was Sri Lankan cricketer who had retired from the all forms the game in 2011. He was known to spin the ball prodigiously.
In his career he had taken 534 wickets in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), 800 wickets in Tests and 13 wickets in 12 T20Is.
He holds the world record for the most wickets in both test and ODI cricket formats. His 800th was from his final ball in his last Test match in July 2010
He also holds record for holding number one spot in the ICC’s player rankings for Test bowlers for 1711 days.

Arthur Morris

He was Australian cricketer. He was regarded as one of Australia’s greatest left-handed batsmen. He had died in August 2015 at the age of 93.
His cricket career spanned between 1946 and 1955. He had played 46 Test matches. He had scored 12,614 runs in 162 first-class matches, including 3,533 runs in Tests.
In 2001, he was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame. He will be the 22nd Australia cricketer in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

Karen Rolton

She is a former Australian cricketer. She is the sixth woman and third Australian to get into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
In her 14-year international career spanning from 1997 to 2009, she had played 14 Tests and 141 ODIs and had scored 1,002 and 4,814 runs respectively.
She holds record of scoring the most runs for Australia in women’s Test cricket. She holds world record of scoring 209 not out against England at Headingley in 2001.

George Lohmann

He was an English cricketer and was regarded as one of the greatest bowlers of all time. He will be the 27th Englishman to be inducted in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame list.
In his career spanning from 1886 to 1896 he had played 18 test matches. He had taken 112 wickets and also had scored 213 runs. He died in 1 December 1901 at the age of 36.

About ICC Cricket Hall of Fame

The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of the legends from the game of cricket. It was launched in January 2009 by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as part of its centenary celebrations in association with the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA). England with 27 cricketers holds record of highest number of inductees in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame list.
