Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill

Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill is a bill that seeks to amend the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015. The objective of the Bill is to streamline and strengthen the provisions for child adoption and child protection. It names district magistrates as ‘synergising officers’, thus increasing their role in the protection of children. Under the Bill, only persons involved in education, welfare or health activities pertaining to children for minimum 7 years or are a professional holding a degree in child psychiatry, psychology, law, sociology, social work or human development can be members of the child welfare committee.
