JIGYASA

JIGYASA is one of the main initiatives at the national level that has been taken up by the CSIR. It is a liaison program between students and scientists that aims to foster an academic temperament among students through a well-planned educational structure. The JIGYASA program was launched in the year 2017 by the Government of India. This program is implemented by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in association with the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).

About the program

This program focuses on spreading awareness regarding the importance of science in society through a practical educational institution, especially among teachers and students. It is characterized by a culture of curiosity and allows students and teachers to experience the theoretical concepts of science through practical craft projects and examples in the CSIR laboratories. 1151 Kendriya Vidyalayas is expected to join 38 CSIR National Laboratories. This program targets around 1,000 teachers and 1,00,000 students each year. Well-planned labs to be added the classroom for more hands-on learning and connects students with scientists to develop a logical understanding of various aspects of technology and science.

Objectives of this program

  • Promote academic temperament among students through the implementation of the Scientist and students Connect programs.
  • Add well-organized and enhanced research lab-based learning to traditional classroom learning.
  • Raises awareness about the importance of technology and science among students.
  • Allow live learning of various theoretical concepts, making them practical in the CSIR laboratories and also participating in various scientific projects.

Benefits

This program is expected to play an important role in changing students’ attitudes towards technology and science. This program focuses on practical experimentation along with the theoretical concepts of science which are taught in the classrooms across the nation. Students will develop logical understanding and should benefit from in-depth knowledge. They can also participate in various exhibitions to demonstrate their skills and expand their knowledge.
