IPFT develops new Disinfectant Sprays

Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT) has developed two new technologies namely “Disinfectant spray for surface application” and “Disinfectant spray for Vegetables & fruits” at a time when Covid-19 pandemic has created a lot of damage globally.

Disinfectant spray for surface application

  • It contains ‘botanical anti-microbial substance’ which can be an effective formulation to prevent from diseases which are caused by microbes, bacteria and virus.
  • The formulation is volatile in nature.
  • It evaporates after disinfecting the surface and does not leave any stains and odour.

Why this has been launched?

Surfaces including door handles, chair armrest, computer keyboard and mouse taps may transmit microbes to the individuals through direct or indirect contact. So, IPFT had developed this alcohol based “Disinfectant Spray” for the surface applications.

Disinfectant spray for Vegetables & fruits

IPFT has also developed Disinfectant Spray for fruits and vegetables so as to remove pesticide residues left over on the surface.

Why this has been developed?

Fruits & vegetables are basic food commodities. But Sometime uses of pesticide contaminate raw vegetables and fruits. This can cause health risk upon consumption. So, to make fruits and vegetables safe consumption, IPFT has developed a water-based formulation. The decontamination of fruits and vegetables are done by soaking in the diluted solution of this formulation and then by rinsing with fresh water.

About Institute of Pesticide Formulation Technology (IPFT)

IPFT was established under the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers as an Autonomous Institution in May 1991. It is based in Gurugram, Haryana. IPFT has been working to develop safer, efficient and environment friendly pesticide formulations. It has four administrative divisions including the Formulation Technology Division, Bioscience Division, Analytical Science Division and Process Development Division.
