Railway Fare Revision 2020

The Indian Railway has revised its fare for passengers traveling from ordinary non-AC classes to AC classes from 1st January 2020 onwards. The date of fare increase 1st January 2020 will be taken as a booking date, all passengers who have brought tickets before 1st January 2020 irrespective of their travel dates would not be charged the extra fare. The last time the Indian Railway has revised its fare was in 2014-15. The revised railway fare are:

  • 0.1 paise per kilometer for Ordinary Non-Ac classes(General Compartment)
  • 0.2 paise per kilometer for Mail/ Express train (Sleeper and Second Sitting)
  • 0.4 paise per kilometer on AC classes of all trains (Chair Car, 3rd AC, 2nd AC, and 1st AC) including Shatabdi, Duronto, Tejas, Vande Bharat, Gatimaan, Yuva Express, Rajdhani, etc.

Increased fares are only applicable on base fare, there is no increase in reservation fee, superfast charges etc. With concerns on daily commuters affordability, the railway has not increased fare of Suburban railway and Season tickets.
