About Ganga Utsav

The Ganga Utsav is celebrated by the National Mission for Clean Ganga. The National Mission for Clean Ganga is implemented by the National Ganga Council. It was established in 2016. It replaced the National Ganga River Basin Authority. The Ganga Utsav is a three-day festival. It promotes the engagement of the stakeholders and also encourages public participation. The Ganga Utsav is celebrated through folklores, storytelling, dialogues with eminent personalities, displaying traditional art forms, quizzes, music and dance performances by renowned artists, exhibitions and photo galleries.

Why is Ganga Utsav celebrated?

The main purpose of Ganga Utsav is to connect different people to rejuvenate the river. It also aims to solve the sensitive ecological issues through conversations.

Where is Ganga Utsav celebrated?

The Ganga Utsav is celebrated on the banks of the river. In Ujjain, the festival is celebrated on Shipra. In Prayagraj, it is celebrated at the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna.
