FITUR International Travel Exhibition

The International Tourism Fair or the FITUR travel exhibition is being held in Madrid, Spain for five days. India participated in the exhibition. The tourism fair is one of the most important tourism exhibitions in the world. FITUR means Feria Internacional del Turismo.

Background

After COVID, the tourism sector has been facing a huge downfall. With the countries relaxing travel restrictions, the travel and tourism sector is looking for opportunities to replenish. India is attending the exhibition to increase its tourism revenue. Almost 42 million Indians associated with the tourism sector became jobless post-COVID. India is now looking for opportunities to develop its tourism sector. And therefore, FITUR is one of the best opportunities.

About the FITUR Exhibition

It was first held in 1981. The exhibition dedicates a separate pavilion for each participating country. The countries shall use these pavilions to exhibit their tourist attractions.

India at FITUR

The Ministry of Tourism is representing India at the fair. The exhibition has provided 253 square meters for India to exhibit its attractions. Along with India, there are 30 other countries participating in the exhibition.
