Dandi March

Salt March or the Dandi March was a landmark event in the Indian independence movement. It was a march carried out by Mahatma Gandhi and his supporters in 1930. The march was a non-violent protest against the British colonial government’s monopoly on salt production. It spanned 40 km for a period of 24 days between March and April. The march was flagged off from Dandi in Gujarat. This year, the PM is to flag off a 21-day long march from Abhay Ghat, near the Sabarmati Ashram, to mark 75 years of Indian independence.
