Plastic bag ban approved in New York budget

A statewide ban on single use plastics has been approved in Manhattan starting from 2021. However, the single use plastics provided by the Supermarkets and other stores will banned from March 1 2020. They are allowed to charge 5 cents for paper bags. the 2 cents of the charge will be going to the local government and the 3 cents to the State’s Environment Protection fund.

Apart from plastic bags, it has also imposed tolls to drive into buseist sections of the city. Manhattan is the first state in the nation to fix congestion tolls
