The primary objective of the Bharat 6G Alliance is to foster the development of indigenous technology and secure a prominent position in the realm of 6G technology. By bringing together public and private companies, academia, research institutions, and standards development organizations, the alliance aims to drive innovation and propel India’s growth in this futuristic field.

A Collaborative Platform for Advancement

The Bharat 6G Alliance website serves as a collaborative platform, facilitating knowledge exchange and synergy among stakeholders. It fosters partnerships and collaborations with global 6G alliances, promoting international collaboration and sharing of expertise.

Grants and Initiatives Supporting Innovation

Under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF), a significant grant of 240.51 crores has been provided to advance research and development in the telecom sector. This funding plays a pivotal role in promoting innovation and indigenous technological solutions.

Innovative Consortia Projects

The 6G THz Testbed project involves the collaboration of SAMEER, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Patna. Together, these esteemed institutions are working on the development of a testbed that integrates orbital angular momentum and multiplexing, paving the way for cutting-edge advancements.
The Advance Optical Communication Test Bed consortium comprises prominent organizations such as IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi, Signalchip Innovations, Signaltron Systems Pvt Ltd, Sasmos het Technologies Ltd, SFO Technologies Pvt. Ltd, ERNET India, Quanfluence Private Ltd, Sterlite Technologies Limited, Nav tech, and Tejas network. This consortium is dedicated to advancing optical communication technology.

Empowering Startups and Recognizing Innovators

Through the Digital Communication Innovation Square (DCIS), the government has granted 48 crores to support the growth of 66 startups and MSMEs in the telecom sector. This initiative nurtures innovation and fosters a thriving ecosystem for entrepreneurial endeavors.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to the field, the Department of Telecommunications felicitated 75 innovators. Their remarkable achievements demonstrate the talent and dedication present in the Indian telecom industry.

India’s Impressive Telecom Landscape

India currently boasts a remarkable 4G footprint, covering 99% of the nation. Furthermore, over 2.7 lakh 5G towers have been installed, positioning India among the top three 5G ecosystems globally. This extensive infrastructure demonstrates the country’s commitment to embracing advanced telecommunications technology.

With over 200 patents filed in 6G technology, India showcases its prowess in pioneering research and development. This signifies the country’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of technological advancements and shaping the future of telecommunications.
