World Soil Day 2019

World Soil Day is an international day celebrated annually on 5th December since 2014 with the aim to spread the importance of healthy soil and to advocate for sustainable management of soil resources.
The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations at its conference in June 2013 unanimously endorsed World Soil Day and requested for its adoption at the 68th United Nations General Assembly. The UN General Assembly designated 5th December 2014 as the official first World Soil Day.

The theme for 2019 World Soil Day: Stop Soil Erosion, Save our Future

The theme raises awareness on the importance of human well being and sustaining healthy ecosystems by addressing the challenges in soil management and raising the profile of healthy soil by encouraging individuals, communities, organizations, and governments across the world to engage proactively in improving soil health.
