Uttar Pradesh Mango Mahotsav-2022 is being held in lucknow, from July 4 to July 7. during the event, a “Mega cluster of Mangoes” was also inaugurated.

Key Facts

Union Government gave its approval for the Mega cluster of Mangoes and will spend Rs 100 crore in next five year on it.
Mangoes from the Mega Mango Cluster will be tagged as “Kakori Brand”.
This was announced while inaugurating “Uttar Pradesh Mango Mahotsav-2022” in Lucknow.

Why will mangoes be called as “Kakori brand”?

Mangoes of the cluster will be tagged as ‘Kakori brand’, in a tribute to heroes of Kakori incident. This is being done as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

Uttar Pradesh Mango Mahotsav 2022

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Mango Mahotsav 2022 on July 4. It will be organised will July 7. Event will showcase 700 varieties of mangoes and their by-products. All the products have been taken from districts of UP, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.

Objectives of Mango Festival

The festival is being organised with the objective of increasing mango production as well as farmers’ income. This objective will be fulfilled by brining different stakeholders on a single platform. During the festival, farmers will be briefed on marketing strategies.

Uttar Pradesh Mango Festival is being organised by department of horticulture and food processing.

Mango Production in India

Mango production across the world have been heavily affected due to constantly changing weather patterns. Around 20.4 million tonnes of mango production, accounting for 65% of global mango production, is from India. Among Indian states, Uttar Pradesh is responsible for 4.5 million tonnes of mango production, accounting for 22% of India’s total mango production. 13 districts in Uttar Pradesh are having mango belts.
