Turkey’s 10-year space programme

Turkey’s 10-year space programme was unveiled by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. It includes moon missions, sending Turkish astronauts to space and developing internationally viable satellite systems. Strategy to achieve these targets is absent. This move is criticised because of the government’s excessive spending on space programmes amid the economic crisis in Turkey. However, it is backed with the arguments of employment generation and reduction of brain drain among scientists.
