Temperature of India likely to increase

According to a government report on the impact of climate change on the economy the average temperature of India is likely to increase by 4.4% Celsius.  During 1901–2018. The average temperature of India has risen by 0.7 degrees Celsius. The report is likely to be published by the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

  • This report is prepared by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune’s Centre for Climate Change Research, which is under MoES.
  • This report says that By the end of the twenty-first century, the average temperature over India is likely to rise by approximately 4.4 degrees Celsius
  • In the period 30-years between 1986 and 2015, temperatures of the warmest day and the coldest night of the year have risen by about 0.63 degrees Celsius and 0.4 degrees Celsius.
  • According to this report at the end of the century, the temperatures of the warmest day and the coldest night might rise by approximately 4.7 degrees Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius.

The rise in surface temperature and humidity, and increase of heat is expected across India, particularly over the Indo-Gangetic and Indus river basins, The report also states that from 1951 to 2015 the summer monsoon precipitation declined by around 6 percent, and mainly the decreases can be seen over the Indo-Gangetic Plains and the Western Ghats
