Telangana Government and WEF to launch Drone Delivery Project

The State Government of Telangana and World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Centre for Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network announced the launch of drone-delivery project called ‘Medicine from the Sky’. The Telangana government, World Economic Forum and Health Net Global signed an agreement for project to be supervised and managed by leaders in field of medicine, technology and research.

About Medicine from the Sky Project

It is a pilot project that will run in partnership with State Government of Telangana and HealthNet Global Limited.

This innovative project will include a comprehensive study of drone-based deliveries for vaccines, blood, medical samples and organs.

Key Features

It is an innovative project to deliver emergency medical supplies like blood and vaccines by using drones.

It will help facilitate decision-making in healthcare supply chains.

It will focus on last-mile deliveries for augmenting national healthcare programme.

It will address issues that affect medical distribution system.

Significance: Drones have immense applications in healthcare sector therefore, roll-out of Medicine from Sky project in India could be transformational.
