Tamil Nadu Gaming and Police Law (Amendment) Ordinance

The Tamil Nadu Gaming and Police Law (Amendment) Ordinance was promulgated by the Tamil Nadu Governor in 2020 to amend the Tamil Nadu Gaming Act of 1930. Recently, a bill was introduced in the State Assembly to replace the ordinance. It seeks to ban online gambling, wagering and betting via games like rummy and poker. Penalty includes a 2 year prison term or a fine of up to 10,000 INR or both.
