SAATHI

SAATHI is Sustainable and Accelerated Adoption of efficient Textile technologies. It was launched in 2020. The initiative is jointly implemented by EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Limited) and Ministry of Power.

What is SAATHI?

SAATHI aims to provide energy efficient power looms, rapier kits and motors for small and medium power loom units. It is implemented in key textile industry clusters such as Surat, Ichalkaranji and Erode. It is based on the bulk procurement, aggregation and financing model adopted by EESL across several sectors such as Smart met meters, electric vehicles and LED bulbs.

How does SAATHI work?

The owner of the unit need not allocate any capital cost to procure equipment under this initiative. Also, he need not allocate additional expenses for repayment. The repayments shall be made from savings that add up by cost savings and by using higher efficiency equipment. The use of efficient equipment will help in cost savings. Also, the bulk procurement and aggregation of demand will lead to capital cost reduction. This is also passed on to the power loom units. It is done to reduce their repayment amount and repayment period.

What are the benefits of SAATHI?

SAATHI leads to improvement in textile technologies. Also, it benefits the industry by increasing the demands. The energy saving methods are cost efficient for textile owners.

Why was SAATHI launched?

The textile industries in India are obsolete. This leads to stagnation. The micro, small and medium units cannot upgrade their technologies without making enough investments. Thus, SAATHI is essential.
